Step into my galley

THWACK!!
THWACK!!
THWACK!!

Boarding your domestic flight, that's the not so loud, but annoying sound you hear emanating from the back of the aircraft.

THWACK!!
THWACK!!
THWACK!!

Oh, don't pay any attention to it.  It's just me in the galley, getting ready for you!

THWACK!!
THWACK!!
THWACK!!

C'mon in--let me show you around...

This is it--not much to it, right?
Each of the squares in the wall are called carrier boxes.  They're removable-the caterers take out the used ones and replace them them with freshly stocked ones.  The front panel is what the Flight Attendant removes to reveal the contents.

Those removable panels break my nails all the time.  Grrrrrr....

And, in the boxes are supplies we'll need for the flight: ice, sodas, orange juice, bottled water, coffee pots...

Okay...see the mallet?

Yes, this is the cause of all that noise.
THWACK!!
THWACK!!
THWACK!!

Ice is really important to a Flight Attendant.  Big chunks are hard for me to scoop out, and slow me down.  And, icebergs in your soda aren't good, either.

Behold!  Pretty ice!

This is the bin (inside the carrier box) that I'll put on top of the cart for our beverage service.  I load it up with 3 orange juices, 3 bottles of water, 1 sleeve of coffee cups, 6 sleeves of plastic cups, hot water for tea, and packs of napkins.  But, that's just me.  Other Flight Attendants have their own ways of setting the cart up.

Coffee comes in a bin like this.  Each bag of coffee contains 2 packs of regular coffee and one pack of decaf, and each pack contains 2 packets to brew.  Also in the bag is sugar, Equal and tea bags.

On top of the cart we'll put a pot of regular coffee, and one of decaf, as well as limes (and lemons, if we have any.)

Doesn't leave much room to work!

And, the star of the show--the cart!

The top drawer is all that pretty ice I worked so hard on.

'The next two drawers are sodas and juices.

The next drawer is the booze drawer.  We've carry a limited selection of "mini's"--the miniature liquor bottles.  There is also a couple of red wine minis, stir sticks and extra napkins.

Gin and tonic, anyone?

Bottom drawer--the cold stuff.  Beer, white wine, margaritas.  I usually add a couple of bottles of water and orange juice on top of this.

Oh, and the little white tile in the plastic bag?  It's dry ice--and how everything is kept cold.

And, here is what I see when I pull out the drawer to give you a beverage.  In the minimal light of early morning and night when the cabin is dark, it can be difficult to differentiate between the cans.  The gold tops are usually ginger ale, but not always.  The green tabs are a new thing from Sprite-and Flight Attendants across the country are just a little bit happier.  I might pull out a red Bloody Mary mix can mistaking it for a Coca-Cola, or a Diet Coke thinking it is a Diet Sprite.

I'm telling you, people--this is a hard job!

Now, would you like something to drink?

Vegas, Baby!

The Crew Desk called at 2:53 a.m. for a 7:07 sign-in. I'm working one leg Washington (IAD)-Los Angeles (LAX), and deadheading back in the same day. Long day, for sure.

When I arrived at work, I found that the Reserve gods were smiling on me. My trip had been changed:

This is a deadhead to Las Vegas (LAS) layover 24:49.

The next afternoon, work two legs, LAS-Chicago (ORD), then ORD to Minneapolis (MSP), layover 16:01.

The third day work two legs back MSP-ORD-IAD.

SUH-weeeeet!

I flew with several people on this trip, but Sandy was the one Flight Attendant who had the exact same trip as me.  And, fortunately for me, she was a hoot to fly with, and fun to hang out with!

After arriving at our layover hotel, I went to the restaurant to get a bite to eat.  Our hotel has a little casino, and after lunch, I just couldn't resist.  I played $5 on the nickel and penny slots.  I went back to my room with this:

A quick nap later, then Sandy and I met in the lobby and walked over to Caesar's Palace.
We shopped at the Forum Shops at Caesar's.   Sandy bought her kids Easter presents there.  I used to get Peeps and colored Easter eggs--her daughter got a new Coach purse and her son a Diesel watch!
We had dinner at Spago, Wolfgang Puck's restaurant.  We both got individual pizzas and shared them..  The pizza margherita and the Greek pizzas were to die for good!

Cleopatra and Marc Antony were hanging out by the fountain....

A bride and groom at the blackjack table.

Behind one of the area of gaming tables was Pussycat Dolls themed--with a couple of cages and dancers behind the blackjack tables.

While at Caesar's, we played some slots.  I'm such a big spender...once again, it was the nickel and penny slots.  And, yes, the machine I won the most from was this one-Kitty Glitter.

(Sorry they're so grainy--these pics are from my cell phone.)

I'm happy to say, I brought most of my winnings home!

The walk back to our hotel.  I soooo love Las Vegas--the lights, the energy, the vibe, the buzz!

We both wanted to go see Donny and Marie--but, they were taking some time off when we were there.

Arriving back at our casino, we added to the night's winnings.  When we checked into the hotel, we were given  coupons for $10 match play.  We played the roulette table, and I turned my $10 into $75.

(You do know that this means the next time I go to LAS that I better stay waaaaa-ay far away from the slot machines and table.)

The rest of the trip was unremarkable. Which, in our business, is truly not a bad thing!

Scenes from the Stuttgart Farmer's Market

Pretty pictures from the Saturday Market.  We bought some sweet, drippy strawberries while there...big, juicy, and joyful berries they were!

Just beautiful!

Head-over-heels!

Could I possibly fall in love with another European city?

My husband is working in Stuttgart, Germany.  I came over Thursday to spend the weekend with him. And, Stuttgart, I have fallen head-over-heels in love with you!

Super easy to get around, yesterday we took the bus and train into the city center. We walked the Koenigstrasse--shops, both large and small, buskers....and people everywhere. Of course, ask Norm and he'll tell you I went into every store, but, trust me, that's not even close to true! I did buy some pretty bowls--I have a "thing" for bowls and it was no problem to find some that I loved. I also found some plates that I didn't feel like draggin' around, but will get them the next time I am here.

Char-lot-ten-platz. I love saying this word!  One of the train stations:

Koenigstrasse

The dishes I want to get next time.  They match little bowls I bought in Munich last year.

The fake silver statue busker...

There were plenty of musicians...

...and biers...

...and bierschnaps
(Norm drank this--I didn't like it much.  Tasted like watered-down whiskey, to me.)
This is a Braille map of the Metro system...I've never seen one like this before.
And, head-over-heels in love with this man, too!  (Even if he does think I am silly for taking pictures of ourselves!)
